Q. I am wondering if a standard black oxide kit, as used for steel can be used for copper to produce an antique effect on the surface.

A. Hi, Rick. Yes, there are very similar standard solutions -- Brass Black [Brass Black on eBay or Amazon [affil link] is optimized for brass and copper surfaces rather than steel ones.
