Thickness Variations in Silver Plating

 1999

I am doing a study on process capability of Silver Plating automatic process. I need data on thickness variation for Silver Plating on automatic lines.

1. Thickness variation within the same component.
2. Thickness variation between components of the same batch.
3. Thickness variation between batches for same component.

I will be glad if anyone can provide me with this information.

It all depends on the size of the part, the shape of the part, the exact chemistry of the plating bath, the current density used, rack or barrel, and how close the operator maintains all of the tollerances. In short, there is no universal answer, regardless of who builds the equipment and how many bells and whistles it has.
