Zinc coating high strength steels

I desire to zinc electroplate a high strength steel part, Rockwell 42-48, for a jack assembly. It is essential that this gear retains its integrity. I have read that baking the part for 4 hours in a 375 degree oven reduces the possibility of hydrogen cracking. Is this a reliable way or is mechanically coating it, the most dependable option?

To my knowledge mechanical plating and dip-spin coatings are not applicable to large parts, but may suit this gear part. Zinc electroplating of critical parts has been done for decades, but hydrogen relief treatment is necessary and it should be done as soon as possible.
