Color change of residue
I have some residue built up at the outlet of my high temp pyrolysis reactor. The residue changes color/state from yellow powder/flakes to green liquid when exposed to atmosphere for a few days at room temp. This residue was analysed and was found to have Ni, C and Br and slight amounts of F and O(basically a organic substance bonded to Ni). How does this transformation happen? Any suggestions/guesses?
Thanks,

I would imagine that the material is hygroscopic and draws in water when it has been cool for a few days, which water it obviously can't sustain at high temperatures. But I guess I don't know enough about you subject to hear the question right--you haven't told us what product you are making but are asking what the side products of the reaction would be expected to be?
