Changing the color of an asphalt roof

I would like to know if you can paint over an existing asphalt shingle roof with paint to change the color from a reddish brown to a charcoal grey or black. If so, what product can you use and where can you purchase it?

There is a latex based paint containing ceramic bead by the name of Astec 900 which is made for just this type of application. The ceramic does a good job of reflecting heat in the summer. Your air conditioner will thank you. I tried this product's predecessor 14 yrs. ago and was duly impressed.

How long does this paint last on the roof? Do you have to repaint it ever? does it look like painted asphalt?
