Greasy aluminum flooring plates

I use 4'x 16'x 1/4" aluminum plates on my shop floor to protect the plywood subfloor from breaking under the weight of forklifts. This area is approx. 16'x 50'. The problem is these plates keep emitting a oily/greasy substance, that stains every thing it comes in contact with. These plates are about 8 years old and it's only getting worse. Paint, if it would even stick would be rubbed off shortly by the forklifts. Is there anything I could use to seal these plates? preferably something my staff could apply with a mop and buffing machine.

Are you implying that you feel the aluminum plates are the SOURCE of the grease that is building up on them? I don't believe there is any possibility of that.
