Seeking effluent treatment methods for treating :

1) Alkaline antirust wastewater containing sodium gluconate, tetrasodium EDTA, NaOH, Na₂CO₃ for ferrous materials cleaning.
2) Alkaline waste cleaning solution containing sodium metasilicate, polypropylene glycol methyl ether for aluminium and magnesium materials.

A common treatment is low-pH saturation with a light metal. Drop the pH to about 2.0, load up the solution with calcium chloride or magnesium sulphate, then raise the pH to precipitate the heavy metals.
