-----Pitting problems on zinc parts
I work for a job shop grinding various parts robotically. My biggest problem is with zinc parts, little pits break out sometimes during the grinding process and also during the polishing process. The parts have to be ground because they are castings and have gate or parting line to remove. Does anyone know how to avoid the pitting problem?

Buy a better grade of castings. Your pits are in the base metal and you are removing the skin which makes them visible.
