Steel Corrosion, cyanide, elevated temperature

I am a materials Engineer and work with a pyrometallurgical tech. company. My question is about the steel corrosion problem and possible mechanisms associated with gaseous cyanide (HF) at high temperature (above 500 C). Is there any reference or publication about it?

Jake,

I doubt that much has been written about a gaseous cyanide with the chemical formula HF, which looks very much like Hydrofluoric acid to me. However, I wonder if HCN gas could exist for long at temperatures of 500 °C. particularly if there is any H2O there also.

Good luck with your search.
