Heat Treatment after Cr Stripping

I would like to remove Cr/Ni layers on Fe substrate. Do I redo the heat treatment after stripping?

Benny, that depends, first on your customer and then on the hardness of the steel. On 1018, it would not be required for any but the most critical of applications. Now if it is 4340 hardened to Rc 45, then it would be mandatory. Next shape is involved. If it is a very complex shape with minimal radius on the corners, I would bake it at a hardness or Rc 33 or so. So, it depends.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
