-----Best Aluminum plating to accept CARC Primer/Paint finishes?
I need some help specifying a prefinish on aluminum parts to be painted with CARC (Chemical Agent Resistive Coating) per MIL-P-53039A(ME). I've found some help on here, that calls for MIL-C-5541 1A Plating (clear Iridite). One manufacturer I found of the paint specifies DOD-P-15328, then MIL-P-53022, then MIL-C-53039. I want to protect the unpainted, mostly internal surfaces which are subject to some condensation. I've been all over the WEB for some help with this. Can anyone point me in a direction?

Chromate to MIL-C-5541 as recommended. I have used this pre-treatment on liquid painted parts, and also on powdercoated parts with very good results. (The U.S. Military doesn't suggest MIL-C-5541 prior to powdercoating for no reason at all *smile*). It will be as sufficient as you need it.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
