Polishing Characteristics of Alloy 6005 T5

Hello,

I am a sales Rep for a small family owned metal distributor in Buffalo NY. I am looking for some information comparing the polishing characteristics of Aluminum alloy 6005 T5 to 6061 T6 and 6063.

Your help would be appreciated.

I don't think I understand your question very well. If you are talking about the reflective quality of these metals or any others, there is no difference in any metal that has the same processing surface profile. The mechanical process and/or color may have some variable quality effect, but not reflective qualities.

Kevin, I don't think you'll see much difference between those alloys, although the 6005 and the 6063 are the more "pure" (slightly less alloying elements). Yet the microstructures are going to be similar, with few second phase particles compared to other heat treatable grades. If you're looking for an aluminum alloy that will polish up nice, for say mirror-finish parts, any of them should work well.

I THINK 6000 SERIES ALL THE SAME PHYSICAL PROPERTIES .
CAUSE THE ELEMENTS OF THEM ALL HAVE NO BIG DIFFERENCE .
6005 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION :
0.6-0.9 % SI
0.35 % FE
0.10% CU
0.10 MN
0.40-0.6 MG
0.10 CR
0.10 ZN
OTHERS AL

I DO NOT THINK THERE IS ANY BIG DIFFERENCE , MAYBE YOU CAN FIND THE WAY IN LIBRARY .
