Lead acetate

I am curious about the use of lead acetate to find "bare spots" in zinc coatings. Where is this procedure written up? Is it a specification? Is the procedure and practice on the web anywhere?

Lead acetate test determines presence of a chromate over zinc or cad since where they are colorless, i.e. blue bright type clear chromates, it's often difficult to tell if it is indeed chromated.

The test is detailed in an ASTM test procedure. I believe it to be a stand alone specification rather than part of ASTM B633 for zinc, for example.
