Alodine is a proprietary family of chromating material (and more recently non-chromate materials)made by HENKEL that form conversion coatings on aluminum, zinc and other reactive metals. There are clear versions, general purpose formulations, high corrosion resistant ones, low electrical resistance, green, yellow, etc. Alodine isn't just one thing!
One thing that it certainly isn't is aluminum oxidizing! Elsewhere on this website you'll find a website address for STINET where registered users can obtain free copies of military specs such as this.
Good luck,
