Serious acid excursion in boiler

I have had a extremely serious acid excursion pH<6 in the boiler. What would be the best way to handle it and avoid it?

The best way to handle it is to get that contaminated water out of the boiler immediately. The best way to avoid it in the future is to make sure all of your steam coils have vacuum breakers in them, that the system has a conductivity meter to immediately alert you to acid infiltration, and to perform periodic maintenance as a guard against coil leaks.
