Etch a 30 mil NiCr (nichrome) wire

I am able to etch 3 mil Nichrome(nickel and Chromium)wire using either potassium or sodium hydroxide as an etchant solution and stainless steel wire as cathode but unable to etch 30mil Nichrome wire. Does any one have any information on this process and the chemicals used.
