Help re: finishing stainless steel times

I am developing a stainless steel tank costing program and seek information regarding "average" times required for finishing the austenitic grades to 0.3Ra and to No.8 starting from No1 mill finish plate and after grinding the welds flush to say 180grit in general fabrication workshop conditions. Any assistance or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated and acknowledged.

It sounds as if your part is rather large; therefore, I'd probably recommend trying to use a non-woven wheel on a hand grinder. Now because it is done by hand, your surface finish may vary somewhat over a given area, but it will blend in the materials and it is capable of achieving the results you are looking for.
