Yellow chromate compare to Alodine for conductivity

I am trying to find a good Aluminum finish that will be conductive. I was going to yellow chromate the part but I was told that Alodine finish was better. Can you help?

Thanks,

Alodine is a trade name for one brand of chromate conversion coatings, and doesn't by itself imply either yellow chromate or clear chromate. As a general rule, the darker the chromate, the better the corrosion resistance but the lower the conductivity.

Yellow chromate is a finish for aluminum. Alodine is a brand of a chemical you would buy to produce a yellow chromate. So Alodine is not better than yellow chromate, it is how you would achieve a yellow chromate. Alodine is produced by Henkel.

Q. Alodine or Yellow Chromate what's the difference; is there any? Can you substitute it?

Hi Mark. Alodine is a Henkel trade name for their range of chromate conversion chemistry processes. It may include both clear & yellow chromates (and possibly other colors), trivalent & hexavalent (and possibly chrome-free), and chromates for zinc plating & aluminum (and possibly other substrates). It's just an overall brand name.
