Mirror polishing stainless steel shafts

We are using stainless steel shafts Dia 1.3mm length 60mm for certain application. The application requires them to be mirror polished. We have a tumbling barrel(P.U lined) installed. Can anyone tell us what type of media liquid and solid is best suited for this application. Since the quantity processed is not very large (10 kgs per day), we do not mind tumbling for 12 hrs or more if required.

For a bright reflective finish you need a non-abrasive media such as steel or porcelain. The larger the size the faster it will work. If you do not have a surface finish of 22RMS you might want to consider an abrasive media first. The chemical compounds you use with water should have good lubricity. I prefer a slightly acidic formulation.
