-----Color and brightness measurement on metallic coatings
I would like to know what method, equipment and specs could be used to measure the consistency of color and brightness of various coatings such as chrome, gold, and various nitrides.

There are a number of suppliers of color matching instruments and a quick internet search should yield many hits.
Like anything else you get what you pay for. There are inexpensive hand held meters to expensive bench top models.
