Sulfamic acid

For our nickel plating bath in our PCB shop, we adjust the bath pH with sulfamic acid. Is there any particular reason why we cannot use sulfuric acid (or any other acid) to achieve this? Thanks.

The bath would build up in chlorides if you used hydrochloric acid, which would affect the characteristics of the plate. I would not add sulphates to this bath either, since it is an unnecessary ion, and will make the bath an ever increasing mixture of sulphate in sulfamate, something not worth studying.

I have a question concerning reacting sulfamic acid on eBay or Amazon [affil link] and urea. Is there another catalyst that can be used to create a reaction other than urea in a lauryl alcohol state?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
