Gas Buildup From Electrolytic Reactions

I would like to experiment with refining of metals but I have concerns about ventilation. I am working with 10 gallon tank with a hydrochloric acid solution anode and cathode setup. How much gas will be produced and how often will I have to refill or recharge the solution?

Hi John. With no quantitative data as input, it's not possible to give you quantitative data as output. But recognize that as soon as you buy or sell (and possibly even simply accumulate) any precious metal you are in the heavily-regulated refining business. What are you going to do with the waste HCl, which will be a regulated waste? Better think about it before you acquire any :-( Ted Mooney, finishing.com
