Stripping paint off of chrome tile

We have chrome tile in our kitchen (probably from the 1950s). The problem is, there are 3 layers of paint over it. We are using a 3M paint stripper, which works fine on the outer 2 layers with some scraping. Any suggestions on how can we effectively strip the last layer of paint off of the chrome tile without scratching it?

Unfortunately, I don't recall ever seeing "chrome tile" and I don't know what it is. I have no clue as to whether it is really stainless steel, really nickel-chrome plated, or just a chrome-like paint. If it's really nickel-chrome plated, neither a solvent nor a reasonably operated scraper should hurt it.
