Naming specific solutions used in electroplating

What is the name of the silver solution used in silver electroplating? Also, what is the name of the solution used in nickel electroplating? Finally, where can I get specific instructions on how to silver plate or nickel plate items?

Hi Creston. Most silver plating solutions are based on cyanide; most nickel plating solutions are based on nickel sulphate. See our "must have" book list.

But you call them "silver plating solution" and "nickel plating solution"; even professional platers with decades of experience rarely attempt to formulate their own plating solutions; this is something you buy rather than make.
