Muriatic Acid on Stainless

I got muriatic acid ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] on some stainless steel in a bathroom, the stainless rusted, is there anyway to get the rust gone.

I've found that automotive chrome polish works well at removing superficial rust from stainless steel. There are specialty cleaners for stainless, but they're usually much more expensive.
