Nitric or non-cyanide silver electroplating solution
Hello, I have been trying to find a non-cyanide based silver electroforming solution to no avail... there is a non-cyanide based plating solution, but thus far the manufacturers of this solution only state that they are working a non-cyanide electroforming solution, but have no idea when one would be available. They wouldn't tell me what this other solution was... seemed to imply sulfamate ?
I have spoken to some electroformers who have tried using their "own" nitric based solutions (disolving fine silver into nitric?), but they have related "problems" in bonding (which they did not elaborate on). I assume that this is the reason I haven't seen commercially available nitric based electroforming solutions.
Do you know of problems arising from home made nitric electroforming solutions, and/or if there exists a commercially available nitric (or other) based electroforming solution for silver ?

The first well advertised non cyanide silver plating solution that I am aware of is Technic's cyless silver. They could tell you if it was suitable for electroforming. I am sure that they would be happy to sell some if they feel that you are not going to dump the waste down the drain or in someone's back yard. Vendors are very picky because of cradle to the grave responsibility.James Watts
