Nitrate coating help
Anybody deal with nitrate coating on od cylinder rods and tubes looking for procedure to polish them and repair.

You probably wanted to ask for nitrided not nitrate surfaces. The procedures for finishing them are very much like for hard chrome, not so the repair. I have not heard of more nitriding on top of previous damaged nitriding. Certainly, some processes can add more metal or alloys on a damaged part but the old surface has to be ground to
"clean" the nitrided layer and get to the bare metal, then put enough to restore original dimensions. One process that has been evaluated for aiplane parts is HVOF blast with tungsten carbide composites.
