Wanted method for coating lead with chrome

I am a New Zealand high school teacher of science who has been demonstrating basic electroplating. (Copper coating coins). My students have developed an interest in if it is possible to coat a lead fishing lure in a shiny (Chrome?) coating.

No one so far seems to have any ideas if this is possible or what to do. Could you give me any suggestions.

You demonstrated electroplating...and you might want to let it go at that. Prepping lead for plating requires hydrofluoric acid, the scariest chemical used in the plating industry, and which most trained electroplaters run from; chrome plating requires chromic acid, a noxious carcinogen that doesn't belong in a school.

Stick to copper and zinc plating :-) Ted Mooney, finishing.com
