Rust patina

I have shiny brass fixtures, how can I give them a rust patina? Can I finish my fireplace screen this way?

The brass most likely has been coated and real brass will not rust.I would shoot an iron paint coating on it and then use a rust patina soulution.You must seal it or rust will come off.For a fire place screen you will need a high heat sealer.
