Chrome dining room set

I have a chrome plated dining room chair set the ones from the early 50's the chairs where stored in a cellar and the chrome has become rusted and pitted I would like to restore them and was wondering about trying to remove the rust and chrome from them? is there anything too clean them? or strip the chrome off of them and the rust?

You can try some automotive chrome polish or if it is still out there an impregnated cotton wadding called Never Rust. If the appearance of the finish is still not to your liking, contact a plating shop that does replate work. Stripping of and plating chrome finishes (probably copper nickel chrome) is not DIY project.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
