I would just like to know the pros and con to forged verses cast piston, and chrome verses cast rings which is better, why and if possible some sort of general performance gains that can be expected.

Thank you in advance,

Matt:

Pistons--Forged is better--cast is cheaper. Chrome rings--better. Cast rings--cheaper. Standard engine rebuild= cast rings + cast pistons. High performance rebuild=forged pistons + chrome rings. Forged pistons and chrome rings will give you much more performance capability provided you upgrade all the other engine components to match that capability. Cam, crank, intake, exhaust and carbs nedd to be matched (performance wise)before any performance gains can be realized from just a ring and piston choice.
