Lacquering aluminium

2002

My husband and I are restoring an old MGB which has alloy wheels. He has polished them and buffed them and they look lovely and shiny.

We would like to know a way of lacquering them to keep them in this condition. Has anyone any ideas about what to use?

Many thanks,

One option that I know of is that you can get clear lacquer coating on the rim. A PU or Acrylic base lacquer will protect the gloss with good performance under UV exposure. A spray coat will be very easy however the best would be if you can locate someone who can do electrophoretic clear lacquer for you on the rims.

Hope this helps.
