Infrared Curing Lamps, What is the difference?

I am ready to purchase a infrared curing lamp for my powdercoating projects. I have found a couple, one sells for $450 and is apr. 10"x10" (the head with 3 tubes), medium wave length, 2.35microns, it is sold as a powdercoating lamp. Another that I have found sells for $220 and the head is 2 1/2'x3', has 2 tubes, medium wave length. watt, no micron specs, but does not specify paint or powdercoating. Is there a difference between a paint and a powdercoating IR lamp? If so what? I like the idea of the larger head, do more with less movement. I am using it more for personal use, pocket money for friends parts also. Any help would be great.

Hi I was just doing a google search and noticed you posted this question way back. Did you ever find a good answer? so far the only powder curing lamp I can find is the Infratech HO6000. It seems the 2000W don't get up to as high of a temp. But I would like a better confirmation.

I have the same question. What's the difference between a paint only infrared curing lamp and one that can be used for powder?
