Q. What are the dangers in grinding Beryllium rod bar etc. I do wear a respirator and there is a vacuum. I have ask my supvr. He is not sure.

A. Manny,

Almost everything (including metals) these days, comes with a MSDS sheet. Ask your supervisor to obtain one for your rod. You will find any potential health hazards listed there, along with recommended safety precautions.

A. Beryllium causes cancer! Plain and simple. Your company should outfit you with an air sampler and then have it tested to insure your exposure rate is low. I let an Airline company fool me with crap on Cadmium testing...very sorry I did.
