Removing a scratch from stainless steel

I have a Stainless steel extractor that has a 3cm scratch against the grain. The scratch has not buckled the metal. Can it be removed or made less visible by myself at home.

Your question has a lot of missing information. Size of part, present texture, depth of scratch, etc. As a general statement, if your part has a texture, more than likely you want to match that. That leaves you some grade of sandpaper or wheel, or a non-woven abrasive wheel. You may have to experiment with particle size. Naturally the coaser the abrasive, the more material will be removed. The size of your part and access will determine what method to use.
