Titanium surface pitting

My Problem is Pitting on the surface of Titanium 6/4 when anodising. The Equipment, electrodes and electrolyte used are the same ones we use for our Niobium anodising. The Components are all Jewelry and of similar size and shape. We acquire high bright finish with centrifugal polishing of both materials, etch both the Titanium and Niobium. We have full interference range of colors and superb finish with the Niobium but disaster strikes with Ti at approximately 45v when Effervescence starts. Anodising is done singularly and not large quantities.

Any help would be appreciated..

Titanium does not get along very well with chlorides. Try a 5 - 15% weight to volume mixture of Tri Sodium Phosphate which you can get at very cheap prices from your hardware or wallpaper shop. James Watts
