Electroforming

I am attempting to reproduce the fine detail on some old medals through the process of copper electroforming. I do not wish to go through the expense of applying silver nitrate to the 'mandrel'. I have made an impression in wax which I have dusted in graphite powder, and as a conductive medium, is not satisfactory. Can anybody advise on a simple and cost effective electroless formula which I can apply to the graphite prior to acid copper forming.

The two-part silvering solutions where one part is silver nitrate are the way to go for preserving fine detail. But there are metallizing solutions based on graphites and coppers available from Acheson Colloids.
