-----Electroplating
When you electroplate a nail, why does the zinc stick to the iron? What element is more reactive?
Nicole Compton- Ontario, Canada
Oftentimes it doesn't, Nicole, so some of the professionals here can sometimes be heard to ask exactly the opposite question :-)
But it sticks because the zinc atom crystals actually grow onto the iron atoms.
Zinc is more reactive, but my question to you, not knowing what grade you are in, is whether you actually know what the word means yet :-)
Good luck!
