Rusting carbon steel

I am looking for a simple and fast way to rust carbon steel. Any help would be great.

You can do it a couple of different ways. First, be sure to clean the metal completely - remove any and all grease and oil. Next (here's where there are two different methods), you can either wet the parts with plain old water and let it sit overnight, or pour some muriatic acid [affil links] on it and then rinse it off (or expose the parts to acidic fumes) and you'll have some rusty parts in no time!
