Degreasing of SS 304 Parts
Dear Sir,
We are making deep draw bowls of SS 304. We need to shot blast them with glass beads before putting them in for steel ball polishing (vibratory). The problem we are facing is that during the deep draw process we are using mustard oil for lubrication which needs to be cleaned thoroughly before the polishing process. We are not able to degrease this mustard. We have tried various chemicals like HCl, Thinner, Kerosene Oil, but have not achieved desired results. Please help and suggest a remedy.

You can't use HCl for degreasing. You need to remove the oil either by Solvent or alkali. You can try vapour degreasing using TCE. Since mustard oil is a vegetable oil alkali degreasers will not have problem saponifying the oil. You can get these chemical from a Plating chemical suppliers. There are many in India.
Good luck...

Try using Tri-chloro-ethylene for degreasing.

Mr. Rishi. Dewan, try using mixture of potassium permangnate and sodium hydroxide solution (concentration of 30 gms/lt of KMnO4.)
