Bright dip acting as lubricant

We are using brass compression rivets on our product. These are composed of a pin half that is pressed into a tubular half. We recently started having the rivets bright dipped by the supplier and also recently started having a problem with the rivets pulling apart after assembly. Could the bright dip be leaving some sort of deposit that is acting as a lubricant?

Can not tell without seeing, but my guess is two fold.1. you are removing enough metal from the two mating surfaces to make "holding " very difficult. 2. the surface of the parts are so much smoother that they do not have the same holding power. James Watts
