Rusting steel

What is the process for rusting metal, specifically plate steel and sheet metal.

Rust is iron oxide..nothing more.. nothing less. I'm not sure what you mean by asking for the "process". If you have some mild steel.. expose it to water, or even a humid environment.. and.. walla! You have rust!
