Tool steel suffers pitting corrosion after wirecut EDM

During wirecut EDM operation on tool steel, pitting corrosion is occurring despite anti-corrosion treatment in the water. This corrosion does not come in the first cut part but in the last one, after the whole cutting operation took 20 hours. We think the passivation film is going down but we do not understand how and why. This is a big problem because the next operation is mirror polishing, and we have to clean the pitted surfaces.

The problem is most probably caused by a breakdown of the cutting fluid you are using or from cross contamination of the various cutting fluids you are using. Its really a problem that is best solved by looking at the problem from outside.
