Anodizing Dye is Coming Off

We are having a problem with the dye coming off of our anodized assy's. The material is 2024-T351 with a finish requirement per MIL-A-8625 / MIL-PRF-8625 [⇦ this spec on DLA] B, Black Anodize, Type II, Class 2, Minimum Thickness of .0007 with either a Sodium Dichromate or Nickel Acetate Seal. This problem seems to occur once every 2-3 years and it is not connected to any one plating house. Part of our ass'y process requires baking @ 150 °F and degreasing in a vapor degreaser using Trichloroethylene. The anodizing die is then easily removed from the ass'y with tape, causing the parts to be scrapped (they have Class 3A threads).

Is it our process or the quality of the anodizing?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
