What surface preparation is needed to do galvanized spray

In one of our emergency water tank area, during inspection it was found that the thickness of plates has reduced to less than 5 mm. Overall plates are also getting corroded.

We plan to repair the corroded surface ( where thickness < 5 mm ) by cutting and patching. We also plan to paint the internal surface by Galvanized Spray to prevent further corrosion.

Could you please tell whether our suggestion is good enough to check further corrosion. Pl also tell what sort of surface preparation we need to do for proper galvanized spray.

In case you have any other view to check corrosion, please share with me.

Regards,

By galvanized spray, do you mean a zinc-rich paint? Are you going to sandblast the metal?
