-----Embrittlement of Ti metal
I want to begin anodizing pure Ti shim to be used as a base for chemical deposition. I need the layer to be electrically insulative. Will the anodization process embrittle the Ti sheet? How do I prevent this?
- Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
The coating itself will be brittle of course in that it is a titanium oxide rather than titanium metal. But the process generates oxygen bubbles at the surface so I doubt that it hydrogen embrittles the base metal.
