Dear sirs,

I have thrust bearing washers & want to surface polishing as mirror polishing, my vibratory machine is as dimensions of drum dia. 20" height 8" and dia. of the washer is 60 mm in size, 5 mm in thickness what type(type ,size & design) of the media I can use for mirror polishing remembering that these washers are hardened at 58-60 degree (case harding) drum vibrating at 1400 rpm by a motor of 1 hp.

It sounds like you have enough power to run steel media which weights about 300 pounds/cu.ft. Your machine will take at least 250 lbs. The more you can get in, the faster it will work. Porcelain will also do the job, but will take 2 to 3 times as long at 100-120 lbs/cu.ft. Most common shape media used is ball or oval ball. If you need to work corners you can consider ball cones or diagonals. Ball media shape gives you only a point contact area, whereas, media shapes like a cylinder will give you wider coverage or a line foot print. You also need a good lubricating compound
