Iridescent clear anodize

When we clear anodize aluminum we are not able to get a clear finish. We are getting an iridescent finish. We bright dip the parts before the anodizing in sulfuric acid process. Is there anyone who has any idea of what the problem can be?

Thanks,

Vero Dewis

Hi Vero,

Are you examining the parts under DAYLIGHT or using some halogen light in the shop? Iridescence usually comes from a thin coating (below 0.3 mil) examined under halogen light. If the iridescence is a rainbow like, it could be related to a thin (almost non-existing) layer due to bad electric contact.

Hope this would be of help.
