-----Diamond tacking and plating
Hi...I am plating tacked diamond on brass. What is the main reason for missing diamond on parts that were tacked with diamond and then plated? Also, what causes the presence of nodules on the parts of the plated diamond?
Thanks,
- Dearborn, Michigan, USA
An acid pickle might dissolve the metal around the diamond, so the tacking is dissolved away, and the diamond falls into the plating tank. Nodules can be caused by a number of factors, including high current density.
