CADMIUM REPLACEMENT TECHNOLOGY: ZnCo for Cadmium

HELLO,

PLEASE CLARIFY WHETHER ZN-CO ALLOY COATINGS CAN BE USED AS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR CADMIUM COATINGS AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS OF AROUND 700 F TO 1000 F ON FASTENERS.ESPECIALLY.

IF SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE DETAILS OF THE TECHNOLOGY.

WITH REGARDS,

HARISH.S.N.
- HYDERABAD, India

Just an observation but cadmium should not be used over about 500 F as it melts.

Dear Harish,

Neither should any Zinc platings serve particularly not Zinc cobalt as it will rupture. You may try Zinc Nickel to the exact temperature you will require in service instead of aiming high just for the fun of it.

all the best.

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
